Your first visit, step by step.
Plan on about an hour. If you'd like a cleaning the same day, say so when you book and we'll hold the time.
- Say helloA short health form at the desk, on paper or a tablet. Ten minutes.
- A proper lookAn exam of every tooth, your gums, your bite and the soft tissue of your mouth. Digital X-rays only where they are actually needed.
- The conversationDr. Malik shows you what he sees on the screen and explains it in plain words.
- Your plan and your estimateYou leave with a written plan, what is urgent and what can wait, and the cost in writing.
What to bring.
A health card isn't needed for dental. These three things are.
- Your insurance details
Group and member numbers are enough. A photo of the card works. - A list of your medications
Especially blood thinners, heart or diabetes medication. It changes how we plan. - The name of your previous clinic
We request your records and X-rays with your permission, so we only take new X-rays if we have to.
Insurance and what things cost.
Which plans do you accept?
Any plan that allows assignment of benefits, which is nearly every employer plan in Ontario. Bring the group and member numbers and we bill the insurer directly.
What does a first visit cost?
Exam and X-rays are billed at the Ontario Dental Association fee guide, and you see the estimate before we start. Most plans cover an exam and cleaning once or twice a year.
I have no insurance.
You get the cost in writing before any treatment, and we plan in stages: what is urgent first, what can wait. Debit, credit and e-transfer are accepted.
